Usually it is believed that most if not all serial killers are men; However, this is not true. We have a list of women who are worse, if not more, than many famous male serial killers. We do not fully know what caused these ladies to derail. Many of them may have had relatively normal lives, but they didn’t really want to. Because of all the deadly crimes they have committed, they are on the list of the worst women in history.

Mary I of England – also known as Bloody Mary – killed many Protestants during her reign trying to restore Catholics to England. The reason for the creed law she set up was to burn more than 300 Protestants accused of being religious. She was never prosecuted for the crimes she committed; However, after her death, her Catholic Restoration was overturned.

 

6. Eileen Wournos

The Most Evil & Vicious Women In History

Eileen Wournos is a highway prostitute who is considered America’s first female serial killer. She brutally shot and robbed off seven in Florida in the late ’80s and early’ 90s. She claimed they were homicides and were committed in self defense; However, she was convicted of killing six and sentenced to death. In 2002, she was executed by lethal injection and a year later her story was filmed in the Academy Award-winning film “Monster”.

Myra Hindley is considered the most evil woman in British history. Together with her partner Ian Brady, she committed the Moors murders in the 1960s. Together they kidnapped, sexually abused and murdered five children and a teenager.

When they were caught, Hindley did not show remorse for her crimes and pleaded not guilty. For 20 years, she continued her innocence; However, in 1987, she pleaded guilty to a total of five murders. In 2002, she died in prison.

 

4. Carla Homolka

The Most Evil & Vicious Women In History

Carla Homolka is Canada’s most notorious female serial killer. She assisted at least three women in the rape and murder of her husband, Paul Bernardo, one of whom was her younger sister. She received a very light sentence for the crimes she committed for her plea agreement with the prosecution. In return for her testimony against Bernardo, she was sentenced to just 12 years in prison.

The prosecution did not initially think about the deal. Homolka claims that Bernardo was harassing her and that she had to take part in his murder; However, video evidence later emerged that she was not the victim, proving that she was actively involved in all the murders. However nothing could be done and her deal with the prosecutors resulted in what became known as the “Deal with the Devil”.

Rosemary West is notorious in Britain for the crimes she committed. She, along with her husband Fred, sexually assaulted, murdered, separated several young women and buried them in their room. One of these women was their daughter Heather. Since the charges were laid, she has maintained her innocence; However, the jury saw through it. In 1995, she was convicted of torturing and murdering 10 women and sentenced to life without parole.

 

2. Amelia Dyer

Amelia Dyer is one of the most prolific serial killers in history. She is known to have killed 400 or more babies over a 20-year period in the Victorian era. She hunts down young, unmarried women with babies who pay her to look after their children. This method is called infant rearing.

Unlike many baby famers, Dyer takes money from these women, but instead of looking after their children, she kills them and throws them into the river Thames. Although she caused many deaths, she was only tried for one murder and sentenced to death.

 

1. Elizabeth Bathory

The Most Evil & Vicious Women In History

Guinness World Records considers Countess Elizabeth Bathory to be the most prolific female serial killer. She was accused of torturing, mutilating and killing 650 women between 1585 and 1610. Despite ample evidence against the Hungarian Countess, she never faced trial due to the influence of her family.

Legend has it that Bathory had vampire-like tendencies. She was known to have bathed in the blood of victims in an attempt to retain her youth.
